October 2017: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Tootsie Roll Industries for allegedly deceptively using You know when you buy a big bag of chips, and you’re all psyched for a feast, and then it turns out there are like, three chips in the bag? That bag is slack filled.ed boxes for Junior Mints® candy to make it appear that consumers are receiving more candy than they actually are. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the amount of empty space in boxes ranges from 35% to 43%. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint in January 2018.) (Daniel et al v.
