In July 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Big Heart Pet Brands for allegedly falsely marketing pet food as natural when, according to plaintiffs, the pet food contains artificial and synthetic ingredients. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint in March 2018.) (van Mourik et al v. Big Heart Pet Brands Inc., Case No. 17-cv-3889, N.D. Cal.)
