Benecol Spreads

In April 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Johnson & Johnson and McNeil Nutritionals for allegedly misleadingly marketing that Benecol spreads contain “No Trans Fat” and are safe for human consumption when, according to plaintiffs, the spreads contain partially hydrogenated oils (a trans fat), which increases the risk of heart disease. (Chamlin et al v. Johnson & Johnson and McNeil Nutritionals, LLC, Case No. 19-cv-3852, S. D. NY.)
