In August 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Atlantic Union Bank for allegedly misleadingly representing that the bank only charges overdraft fees on transactions if there is not enough money to cover a transaction when, according to the complaint, the bank charges such fees on transactions that do no actually overdraw an account. (Hinton et al v. Atlantic Union Bank, Case No. 20-cv-651, E.D. Va.)
