April 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Ahold USA, Inc. for allegedly falsely marketing its parmesan cheese as being “100% Grated Parmesan Cheese” and “100% REAL CHEESE NO FILLERS” when, according to the complaint, it actually contains more than 10% cellulose, a filler made from wood pulp. The lawsuit was transferred to federal court in July 2016. (Jain et al v.
