In April 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Stop & Shop for allegedly falsely advertising its homestyle mashed potatoes as being “Made with Real Milk & Butter” when, according to the complaint, the products also contain margarine. (Louis et al v. The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC, Case No. 18-cv-2221, E.D.N.Y.)
