Bingo King/Bingo Winner

In a recent TikTok video sent in by a reader, a woman says she made more than $12,000 a month playing bingo on her phone.

The name of the app: Bingo King.

But before you download the game in anticipation of achieving bingo riches, you should read the fine print at the bottom of the video, which states:

Result is not guaranteed. Amount paid to you is subject to rules in the app.

To the extent this disclaimer is an attempt to provide the company legal cover for its eye-popping claims, the FTC says that such “results not typical” disclosures are ineffective and marketers should instead reveal what consumers will generally achieve with the advertised product.

With regard to the second part of the disclaimer, the game’s official rules are not linked anywhere on the app’s product page in the Apple App Store (where the game is also sometimes called Bingo Winner). However, the developer Joybox Studio states in its terms of use on its website that, “If you initiate a withdrawal of funds from your Account, you will forfeit all Bonus Cash currently in your Account.”

The video also claims that Bingo King has “[n]o ads, no purchases, no inviting people.” But according to some customer reviews in the Apple App Store, there are ads and before you can win any real money, you first need to deposit some of your own. Meanwhile, in the description on the product page, Joybox Studio encourages users to “[i]nvite your friends for even bigger free bingo bonuses.”
