Goldfish Flavor Blasted Crackers
Allegations: Falsely marketing products as containing no artificial preservatives
In December 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Pepperidge Farm for allegedly deceptively marketing that its Texas Toast contains butter when, according to plaintiffs, only 2% (at most) of the toast is butter while vegetable oils are the primary fat in the product. The complaint also alleges that Pepperidge Farm deceptively claims that the toast’s yellowish color comes from butter when the color actually comes from added annatto and turmeric extracts, and that the company deceptively represents that the products are made with “real” garlic, butter, and parsley when they are actually made using genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
