Water Drench and Rose Stem Cell Skin Care Products

February 2019: This case was transferred to federal court. (Case No. 19-cv-698, N. D. CA.)

December 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Peter Thomas Roth, LLC for allegedly falsely advertising its Water Drench and Rose Stem Cell skin care products. Plaintiffs claim that the company falsely represents that Water Drench products provide unique moisturizing benefits – including that the hyaluronic acid in them draws water from the air into the user’s skin and can absorb 1,000 times its weight in water – when, according to the complaint, the hyaluronic acid, which is already saturated with water in the products, does not absorb any additional water and actually draws water out of the skin. The complaint also claims that the company falsely advertises that the rose stem cells in its line of Rose Stem Cell products repair, regenerate, and rejuvenate human skin when, according to the complaint, there is no evidence to support claims that these plant stem cells provide such benefits. (Miller et al v. Peter Thomas Roth, LLC et al, Case No. RG18933751, California State Court – Alameda)
