August 2020: A class-action lawsuit was filed against The Procter & Gamble Company for allegedly falsely marketing that Tide purclean laundry detergent is “plant based” when, according to plaintiffs, the detergent contains ingredients that come from petroleum. Plaintiffs also claim that the USDA BioPreferred Bio Certified Seal on the front label does not adequately disclose that the detergent is only 75% biobased content. (Cole et al v. The Procter & Gamble Company, Case No. 20-cv-6680, S.D.N.Y.)
