Store-Brand Hand Sanitizers

A class-action lawsuit was filed against Vi-Jon for allegedly falsely marketing that store-brand hand sanitizers – including Equate, Up & Up, Walgreens, and Germ-X – “Kill[] 99.99% of germs” when, according to the complaint, the products are not effective against certain viruses, bacteria, and other disease-causing organisms. The complaint was originally filed in September 2020 and amended in November 2020. (Macormic et al v. Vi-Jon, LLC, Case No. 20-cv-1267, E.D. Mo.)
