Ruffles Baked Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips
In September 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Frito-Lay for allegedly misleadingly marketing that the sour cream flavor in Ruffles Baked Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips comes from sour cream when, according to plaintiffs, the sour cream flavor comes from an artificial flavor (synthetic diacetyl). Plaintiffs also claim that the front label deceptively fails to disclose that the chips contain artificial flavors while the ingredients list on the back label reveals that the chips contain artificial flavors. (LaRocca et al v. Frito-Lay, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-4245, E.D.N.Y.)
