December 2020: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Ecosmartplastics for allegedly falsely marketing Repellem and Eco-Friendly trash bags as 100% natural, biodegradable, and eco-friendly when, according to the complaint, the trash bags are made from a chemical material, and the bags are not biodegradable or eco-friendly. (Cohen et al v. Repellem Consumer Products Corp. d/b/a Ecosmartplastics, Case No. 20-cv-5830, E.D.N.Y.)
