January 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Capital Intellect, Inc. for allegedly falsely marketing Winferno Software. Among other things, plaintiffs allege that the company claims its “Registry Power Cleaner” is able to perform many functions to improve PC performance when, according to plaintiffs, it only performs one basic function that will not significantly improve a PC’s performance. In addition, plaintiffs allege that the company offers a free diagnostic scan to induce consumers to purchase its software because the scan is intentionally designed to always find “Critical Errors” and report that the consumer needs to purchase the “Registry Power Cleaner” to fix the problems.
