November 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against GNC and BPI Sports for allegedly falsely marketing the weight-loss dietary supplement Pro-Nutra Ultra Concentrated Garcinia. According to plaintiffs, the supplement is marketed as a “highly effective appetite suppressant, fat burner, and weight loss pill” when, in fact, the supplement does not work as advertised. (Foster et al v. BPI Sports, LLC, BPI Sports Holdings, LLC, and GNC, Case No. 14-cv-09025, N. D. IL.).
