In February 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Citizens Equity First Credit Union for allegedly misleadingly promising that it only charges overdraft fees when an account does not have enough money to cover a transaction when, according to plaintiffs, the credit union routinely charges overdraft fees on transactions that do not overdraw the checking account.
