November 2013: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Banfield Pet Hospital for allegedly representing that its “Optimum Wellness Plan” offers savings and discounts for preventive pet care services and products when, according to the complaint, the plan does not provide the promised savings and discounts and the company sells unnecessary pet care to those with the plan. (Pero et al v. Medical Management International, Inc. d/b/a Banfield Pet Hospital, Case No. 13-cv-01749, C. D. CA.).
