In January 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against One Brands and The Hershey Company alleging that its ONE protein bars – including the Birthday Cake flavor – contain more sugar and cholesterol and less dietary fiber than represented on the labels. Specifically, the complaint claims that the bars contain 1 gram of sugar, 5 milligrams of cholesterol, and 9 grams of dietary fiber when, according to the complaint, the products contain 1.4 grams of sugar, 9.8 milligrams of cholesterol, and .36 grams of dietary fiber. (Sebastian et al v. ONE Brands LLC and The Hershey Company, Case No. 20-cv-9, S. D. Cal.)
