In January 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Diamond Resorts Holdings (a company that sells points-based timeshare memberships) for, among other things, allegedly deceptively luring elderly consumers to purchase memberships by advertising that premium, high-value resorts will be available to members without disclosing that rooms at such properties are generally unavailable as they are booked to full capacity a year in advance.
