Lay’s Potato Chips, Fritos, and Other Frito-Lay Snacks

October 2015: This action was voluntarily dismissed When a complaint is dismissed without prejudice, an amended version of the complaint can be refiled., the reasons for which have not been disclosed.

May 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Frito-Lay North America for allegedly mislabeling several products, including Lay’s Honey Barbecue Potato Chips, Cheetos Puffs, Fritos Original Corn Chips, and several flavors of Tostito Tortilla Chips. Specifically, plaintiffs claim that the company labels products as:

  • “All Natural” when they actually contain artificial ingredients and chemical preservatives;
  • Having “No MSG” when they actually contain ingredients that are sources of MSG; and
  • Having “0g trans fat” without adequately disclosing that they contain high levels of fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium.
