In September 2013, consumers filed a class-action lawsuit against Hyundai Motor America claiming that the company deceptively promoted the estimated gas mileage of its vehicles. Specifically, plaintiffs allege that the promoted EPA fuel economy ratings and fuel efficiency numbers were inaccurate because the numbers were the result of “flawed and insufficient” testing methods. (Murphy et al. v. Hyundai Motor America, Case No. 13-cv-01504, C. D. CA.).
