March 2015: A federal judge dismissed this lawsuit finding that the complaint did not sufficiently show that the $5 million amount-in-controversy requirement was met.
September 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for allegedly falsely marketing Garcinia Cambogia Extract, a weight-loss dietary supplement. According to the complaint, the company markets the supplement as an appetite suppressant, fat burner, and weight-loss pill without scientific evidence to support such claims. (Hostrup et al v. Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Case No. 14-cv-23309, S. D. FL.).
