Allegations: Failing to disclose the number to out-of-network fees charged and misrepresenting how international transactional fees are applied
Fifth Third Bank’s Fees
December 2018: This case was transferred to a court in Ohio. (Case No. 18-cv-869, S. D. OH.)
March 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Fifth Third Bank for allegedly misrepresenting that:
- There are no fees for using ATMs owned by Fifth Third Bank’s partners when, according to plaintiffs, the bank charges out-of-network fees for using these ATMs;
- Customers will only be charged one insufficient funds fee for a single transaction when, according to plaintiffs, the bank charges multiple insufficient funds fees on a single transaction if it is resubmitted for payment;
- Customers who do not opt into its overdraft coverage service will not be charged overdraft fees for items that are not automatic or recurring debits when, according to plaintiffs, customers who do not opt into the service are charged these fees on one-time transactions.
