December 2020: A class-action lawsuit was filed against E.L.F. Cosmetics for allegedly falsely advertising e.l.f. flawless finish foundation cosmetics as oil-free when, according to plaintiffs, they do contain oils. (Flaherty et al v. E.L.F. Cosmetics, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-7251, N.D. Ill.)
