May 2016: Another class-action lawsuit was filed against Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s for allegedly deceptively advertising the nature and amount of price discounts at retail and outlet stores. According to the complaint, the stores deceptively compared a sale price to an “artificially inflated” original price to make consumers believe they were saving more than they actually were. (Farhang et al v. Macy’s, Inc., Macy’s West Stores, Inc., and Bloomingdale’s, Inc., Case No. 16-cv-2850, N. D. CA.)
