June/July 2016: A false advertising class-action lawsuit alleging that Coach misleadingly advertises discounts on merchandise sold at outlet stores was filed in California state court in June and transferred to a New York federal court in July. The complaint alleges that the store misleadingly compares manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRPs) to discounted prices because the merchandise at outlet stores is never sold for the represented MSRP price and the MSRP price represents one for items of superior quality sold at retail stores. (Hinkey et al v. Coach, Inc. and Does 1-100, Case No. 16-cv-5320, E. D. CA.)
