In May 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Deva Concepts for allegedly misleadingly marketing that its DevaCurl hair products are gentle and provide several benefits to users with curly hair when, according to plaintiffs, the company does not adequately warn consumers that the products may cause scalp irritation, excessive shedding, and hair loss, among other things, during normal use.
