May 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Prophase Labs for allegedly misleadingly marketing Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy products, a line of homeopathic remedies. Specifically, plaintiffs claim that the company labels products – including Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy Lozenges and Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy Daytime/Nighttime QuickMelts – as having the ability to reduce “the duration of the common cold” and “the severity of cold symptoms” without scientific evidence to support such claims. (Weisblum et al v. Prophase Labs, Inc., Case No. 14-cv-03587, S. D. NY.).
