FTC Sues LA Fitness for Making Consumers Sweat Gym Memberships
Complaint alleges gym chain puts up roadblocks to cancellation.
In March 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Citizens and Farmers Bank for allegedly misleadingly representing that it charges overdraft fees and non-sufficient funds fees on transactions if an account does not have enough money to cover a transaction when, according to the complaint, the bank charges such fees on certain debit card transactions when there is enough money in the account. According to the plaintiffs, the bank sets aside money to pay for debit card transactions at the time of the transaction but assesses overdraft fees on the same transaction if it settles into a negative balance days later.
