In May 2018, a false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against CenturyLink – a telecommunications company — for allegedly charging its customers higher prices than those it advertises. Specifically, the complaint claims that the company promotes fixed monthly rates for internet and telephone services when, according to the plaintiffs, the company then charges higher rates and adds unauthorized charges to monthly bills. (Malueg et al v. CenturyLink, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-725, E. D. WI.)
