Cento Canned Tomatoes
In 2019, a false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against Cento Fine Foods. The complaint, which was originally filed in May and amended in July, alleges that the company misleadingly labels its canned tomatoes as “Certified San Marzano” when, according to plaintiffs, the tomatoes are not San Marzano tomatoes and have not been certified by the Consortium of San Marzano tomatoes, the agency with the authority to certify San Marzano tomatoes. (Snarr et al v. Cento Fine Foods Inc., Case No. 19-cv-2627, N. D. Cal.)
