Misleading campaigns highlight this year’s big ad event.
In February 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Sweetworks Confections for allegedly deceptively using You know when you buy a big bag of chips, and you’re all psyched for a feast, and then it turns out there are like, three chips in the bag? That bag is slack filled.ed boxes for Sixlets chocolate candies to make consumers believe they are getting more candy than they actually are. Plaintiffs claim that the boxes of candies are approximately 60% empty space. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint in May 2018.) (Green et al v. Sweetworks Confections, LLC, Case No. 18-cv-902, S.D.N.Y.)
