March 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Nestlé Purina Petcare Company for allegedly representing that Beneful dog food – including Beneful Healthy Weight, Purina Beneful Original, Purina Beneful Incredibites, Purina Healthy Growth For Puppies – is wholesome, healthy, and nutritious when, in reality, the dog food contains substances that are “toxic to dogs” and many dogs became ill and/or died after eating Beneful. (Normand et al v. Nestlé Purina Petcare Co., Case No. 15-cv-06141, W. D. NY.).
