In March 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against 7-Eleven for allegedly misleadingly marketing that the characterizing flavor in its 7-Select Iced Lemon Cookies is lemon when, according to the plaintiffs, the ingredients list reveals that the cookies do not contain a lemon ingredient and are made using “natural and artificial flavors” instead. In addition, the complaint claims that the ingredients list also reveals that the cookies contain yellow food coloring to make the color look more like the flavor comes from lemons. (Rodriguez et al v. 7-Eleven, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-2636, S.D.N.Y.)
