Relivira

Underwear seller strips a number of marketing claims after a TINA.org inquiry.

Last week, online retailer Relivira advertised on its website you can shop with confidence knowing that its underwear comes with a “90-day 100% money-back guarantee.” There was just one problem: According to the company’s refund and return policy, due to hygienic reasons, underwear is not eligible for a refund and all underwear sales are “final.”

“This website only sells these panties,” a TINA.org reader, who said the company refused to refund her for a pair of underwear that turned out to be too small, pointed out. So, she asked, what does the money-back guarantee apply to?

Good question, dear reader. We took it to Relivira and within a few days the company had removed its “90-day 100% money-back guarantee claims” from the underwear product pages (compare before and after). But that’s not the only change to the website since TINA.org contacted the company.

After inquiring about the basis for claims that Relivira has a customer rating of 4.8 stars based on more than 3,300 reviews and has been “seen” on networks such as NBC, CBS and FOX News, the company removed those claims as well.

Despite these marketing changes, we have yet to receive a direct response to our inquiry.

The bottom line

If you see ads promoting guarantees, you should look into the terms and conditions of these enticing offers before making a purchase to be sure you understand what you’re getting.
