Herbs of Light

Herbs of Light advertised a number of its supplements with drug-like claims. The FDA was none too happy, and in June, it sent a warning letter to the company telling Herbs of Light to stop selling its products with drug-claims. Herbs of Light has, for now, pulled most of their products from the site.

Herbs of Light was selling, among other items:

  • Deer Tick Defense (Wildcrafted / Certified Organic) – “[P]roviding safe and significant antimicrobial action. The Cilantro within this blend assists the body in releasing mercury toxicity from within cells, and should be used in conjunction with CHLORELLA, which helps excrete mercury from the cellular membrane.”
  • False Unicorn (Chamailirium luteum, Wildcrafted root) – “May be beneficial for female infertility, impotence…”
  • Mandrake (Podophyllum peltatum, Wildcrafted root) – “May be beneficial in the elimination of obstruction . . . ”
  • Veins Assist (Wildcrafted / Certified Organic) – “[F]or post-surgical operations of the rectum.”

Though we think it’s just a poorly chosen supplement name in this case, we will note that real Mandrake is poisonous. Unicorn horns do counteract poison, but maybe don’t test your luck with False Unicorn.
