Before enrolling in a for-profit college, check out this government investigation of 15 colleges that revealed questionable practices that potential students should be mindful of when considering where to enroll. The investigation conducted in August 2010 by The Government Accountability Office (GAO) revealed that all 15 schools made questionable or deceptive statements to potential recruits, and 4 encouraged fraudulent practices outright, urging students to falsify documents in order to qualify for federal aid.
The report did not include school names, but GAO official Gregory Kutz testified that schools under investigation included those run by Appollo Group, Corinthian Colleges, Education Management, and Kaplan. To see their actions caught on tape, watch this video:
