In February 2022, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requested public comments concerning the need for a rule addressing deceptive and unfair earnings claims. Among other things, the FTC asked for feedback regarding how widespread the use of false, unsubstantiated, or misleading earnings claims is and whether the use of deceptive earnings claims causes injury to consumers. TINA.org submitted a comment along with more than 1,500 other consumers and organizations. See below for an analysis of the comments filed with the FTC.
