In October 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Sanofi-Aventis U.S., Sanofi US Services, Chattem, Inc., and Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals for allegedly failing to disclose that the over-the-counter heartburn medication Zantac exposes users to unsafe levels of the carcinogen N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA).
