CATrends: Products Marketed as Containing No Preservatives
Class-action lawsuits target preservative-free claims.
In May 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against United Community Bank for allegedly misleadingly promising that it only charges overdraft fees on debit card transactions “when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction” at the time the transaction occurs when, according to the plaintiffs, the bank charges overdraft fees on transactions that do not overdraw the account (i.e., there is enough money in the account to cover the transaction), as well as transactions that put an account into a negative balance days after the transaction when it settles.
