A class-action lawsuit was filed against Aspiro AB and Kanye West in April 2016 (and amended in October 2016) for allegedly fraudulently inducing consumers to subscribe to Tidal, a subscription-based music streaming service. Specifically, the complaint alleges that, in order to get consumers to subscribe to Tidal, Kanye West promised to release his new album “The Life of Pablo” exclusively on Tidal when, in reality, the album became available through Tidal’s competitors only a month and a half after the album’s initial release.
