Without a strong legal definition for “non-toxic,” cosmetic companies are making it up as they go along.
October 2019: The case was dismissed When a complaint is dismissed with prejudice, it cannot be refiled. because the parties reached a settlement agreement, the terms of which have not been disclosed.

August 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Thrive Causemetics and its CEO Karissa Bodnar for allegedly falsely representing that for every one of its luxury cosmetics sold, the company donates a product to help a woman in need thrive when, according to plaintiffs, such claims are not true. (Barker et al v. Thrive Causemetics, Inc. and Karissa Bodnar, Case No. 18-2-21685-1, Washington State Court – King County)
