March 2018: A false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against Avvo, Inc. for allegedly misleadingly representing that the reviews of attorneys on its website are unbiased and based on merit without disclosing that attorneys who pay fees to Avvo have higher ratings. (Davis et al v. Avvo, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-2835, S. D. NY.)
