September 2017: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Stages of Beauty for allegedly deceptively marketing its automatic renewal and continuous service offers by failing to clearly and conspicuously disclose the terms of subscriptions for cosmetics resulting in consumers being charged without their consent. (Lopez et al v. Stages of Beauty, LLC, Case No. 17-cv-1888, S. D. CA.)
