June 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Mondelez International for allegedly deceptively packaging Sour Patch Watermelon candy. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the company uses a non-transparent cardboard boxes with 44% empty space (in other words, the box has the capacity to hold at least 50 pieces of candy but contains only 28 pieces of candy). (Izquierdo et al v. Mondelez International, Inc., Case No. 16-cv-4697, S. D. NY.)
