2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Wilson Sporting Goods for, among other things, deceptively marketing the quality of softball bats. The complaint, which was amended in 2017, alleges that the company misleadingly markets itself as the “Maker of the World’s Finest Bats” with “an insane dedication to quality” and that their “technology and durability is unmatched” when, according to the plaintiffs, the company sells bats that are defective. (Oda et al v. Wilson Sporting Goods Co. et al, Case No. 15-cv-2131, C.D. Cal.)
