June 2018: A federal judge preliminarily approved a settlement agreement in which the company agreed to provide consumers with vouchers to use toward a future purchase. According to the settlement terms, class members who started or completed the warranty claim process will receive an $85 voucher while class members who did not start the warranty process but have proof of purchase will receive a $35 voucher. 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Wilson Sporting Goods for, among other things, deceptively marketing the quality of softball bats. The complaint, which was amended in 2017, alleges that the company misleadingly markets itself as the “Maker of the World’s Finest Bats” with “an insane dedication to quality” and that their “technology and durability is unmatched” when, according to the plaintiffs, the company sells bats that are defective.
