Ronzoni “Healthy” Pastas

September 2017: A federal judge dismissed this action for failure to state a claim concluding that the labels would not mislead reasonable consumers.

August 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against New World Pasta Company for allegedly deceptively packaging Ronzoni’s “healthier” varieties of pasta, including Healthy Harvest, Garden Delight, Gluten Free, Super Greens, and Smart Taste pastas. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the company uses the same size boxes for its “healthy” pastas” as its traditional wheat pastas when the boxes of “healthy” pastas actually contain less pasta. According to the complaint, the boxes of traditional pasta contain 16 ounces of pasta while the boxes of “healthy” pastas contain only 12 ounces of pasta. (Stewart et al v. New World Pasta Company, Case No. 16-cv-6157, S.D.N.Y.)
