December 2019: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Riverside Partners and Nustef Baking for allegedly misleadingly marketing that Reko Vanilla Pizzelles contain vanilla when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredients list shows that the waffle cookies contain “artificial vanilla flavor.” In addition, plaintiffs claim that the product contains caramel color to make the color of the cookie look more like the flavor comes from vanilla. (Rosado et al v. Riverside Partners L.L.C. and Nustef Baking Ltd., Case No. 19-cv-7228, E.D.N.Y.)
