In December 2014, a state judge preliminarily approved a settlement of a class-action lawsuit against Permatex. The complaint, which was originally filed in 2013, alleged that the company misleadingly labeled automotive repair kits as “Made in USA” when they actually do not contain 100% U.S. content. According to the settlement terms, class members may be eligible to receive a $2 refund for each product purchased. The company also agreed to permanently remove the “Made in USA” label from products that do not contain 100% U.S. content. In addition, the company agreed to donate $1 million to Follow A Dream, an automotive-related charity. A final fairness hearing is scheduled for June 26, 2015.
